Local Beaches

Apart from the wonderful views from your windows looking out over Bass Strait to Ninth Island, the closest beach is on Tam O'Shanter Bay, just a few minutes walk along the coastal track. It has a lovely stretch of sand, perfect for a stroll on a winters day or a warm summer afternoon. The coastal tracks meander along through the grasses and shrubs, past rocky outcrops. You are sometimes out in the open, then you can be surrounded by coastal shrubs. The ever constant sound of the waves as they roll onto the shore is one that you never tire of.

Weymouth

Weymouth is just a short drive and is an ideal spot for boating, sailing and enjoying the water and lovely sandy banks. As Pipers River meets the ocean, it provides a popular spot for families to enjoy.

Bridport

Bridport is a beautiful seaside village, with sandy secluded beaches on Andersons Bay . Granite rocks and clean clear turquoise water make fishing, boating and walks along the foreshore a must on your list of things to do.

Narawntapu National Park

Narawntapu National Park features Bakers Beach and Badger Beach. The Park is a valuable habitat for plants and animals – a wilderness area. Several rare plant species are found here and birds are attracted by the abundance of flowering heath plants, the wetlands and mudflats. Swimming, boating and walking attract visitors to this special place.

Dubbed the "Serengeti of Tasmania" the park boasts a rich array of easily observed animals that graze on the grasslands in the evening. Forester Kangaroo, Bennetts Wallaby, wombat and Tasmanian devil to name a few.
